OKEY DOKEY KONRAD FISCHER | OKEY DOKEY KONRAD FISCHER | LOS ANGELES 29.03.25 - 10.05.25
Konrad Fischer Galerie is pleased to announce OKEY DOKEY KONRAD FISCHER, a new project for exhibitions, presentations and interventions.
OKEY DOKEY KONRAD FISCHER begins with a series of exhibitions in Los Angeles presenting historic artists alongside contemporary artists from Europe. The space is located at 556 N Western Avenue in Melrose Hill.
The inaugural exhibition will present historic works by Charlotte Posenenske (1930–1985) with new works by Alice Channer (b. 1977).
The name for the project comes from Konrad Fischer who used the phrase frequently, ending conversations and letters with “Okey Dokey, Konrad Fischer”. Fischer was so well known for the saying that Sol LeWitt had a stamp with its inscription made especially for him, which serves as the logo for the project. The exclamation still accompanies the gallery today and is synonymous with a concentration on the essentials and a spirit of experimentation that continues to guide it.
Today, more than 50 years later, with OKEY DOKEY KONRAD FISCHER, we return to the gallery's radical beginnings and original ideas.
When Dorothee and Konrad Fischer presented Carl Andre in their first exhibition in a small room in Düsseldorf's old town in October 1967, Minimal Art and Conceptual Art were almost unknown in Europe. Artists such as Richard Long, Bruce Nauman, Sol LeWitt, On Kawara, Lawrence Weiner, Hanne Darboven, Bernd & Hilla Becher, stanley brouwn, Jan Dibbets, Daniel Buren, Alan Charlton and Robert Ryman subsequently had their European debuts in the “Ausstellungen bei Konrad Fischer”. With a few exceptions, these artists are still represented by the gallery today. Konrad Fischer Galerie is led by Berta Fischer, the daughter of the late founding couple Dorothee and Konrad Fischer, who has managed the gallery since 2015 with locations in Düsseldorf and since 2018 in Berlin in a former power station.
Berta Fischer and the gallery team welcome Eleonore Hugendubel and Matt Moravec, who will run OKEY DOKEY KONRAD FISCHER from New York, with Tyler Murphy in Los Angeles.
